Why It Matters

Ok, so, knowing what is happening in agriculture today is vital to my success as an American farmer or rancher.  But….

Why does it matter to me personally?

Well, First, Your Economic Security Is Vital

Because you work hard at what you do.  You and other American Farmers and Ranchers like you provide food.  Not just for your family but for the families of countless others all around the world.  Your role is vital to our way of life.  Your economic security and success is vital to you personally, but it is also vital to all of us.  In short, if you fail, we all fail.

But get it down to a very personal level.  You have an overwhelming need to be successful.  Financially successful.  You may grow the best award-winning crops in the state, but, if you are not making a profit, how long can you keep on doing this?  If the weather wipes you out too many seasons in a row, how long can you keep on going?  If you don’t have operating capital to invest in repairs and improvements, how many seasons can you keep it up?

Why does it matter?  The crop insurance subsidies can make the difference between your economic success or failure, that’s why.

Second, American Raw Materials Are Vital

We all know farmers and ranchers don’t just grow food, at least not just people food.  They also grow essential raw materials that go into all the things that make our lives rich.  The livestock we depend on so desperately also have to eat, in order to provide us with the many essential raw materials that our industries require.  American grown and manufactured materials helps to loosen the grip that foreign manufacturing has on this country.

“Made In America” is getting scare.  Where will we be when “Grown in America” is just as scarce?

Why does it matter? We all depend on you and others like you. The crop insurance subsidies can help keep your operation going strong for years to come.

It Is Insuring More Than Just Your Crops

In 2012 alone, US producers who purchased crop insurance were paid more than $17 billion in indemnities.  That was $17 billion worth of loss from drought, frost, hail, floods and such.  That $17 billion was a vital safety net against perils that we know are going to strike.  The weather perils are very predictable — they are going to happen.  What may not be as predictable is the timing.  Who can say “When” for certain?

Without the strong crop insurance program we have available through this New Farm Bill, the uncontrollable timing of these changes in weather would totally undermine the financial security of individual farmers and ranchers, like you. Not only you, though, but the entire farm economy in America.

Crop Insurance Protection Is Affordable

Everyday, this country depends on the goods and the products that you and other American farmers and ranchers produce.   Crop insurance and good risk management are essential tools in today’s very complex agriculture economy.  Crop insurance is the safety net you need to remain stable and remain financially sound in this decade.

Access to affordable crop insurance allows farmers and ranchers like you to secure your finances, your family’s future and your way of life.

The Personal Bottom Line

That’s one of the most important things about this new Farm Bill that you need to understand.  The direct subsidies that farmers and ranchers may have depended on for years may be gone.  However, generous crop insurance premium subsidies have taken their place.

Ag Risk Management & Insurance LLC has the trained professional staff to guide you through the complex landscape of what’s available and when.
